arigatoa bit no clue09:03
arigatoit seems related to the Very Long Function in unroll.py09:03
fijalpfff09:05
fijalI made it probably a very-long-function just to work around some other limitations :/09:05
fijaloh09:06
fijalyou mean the actual Very Long Function :)09:06
arigatowell it's not just "your fault"09:06
arigatoyes09:06
fijaldo we need hakan for that?09:06
arigatoit's mostly Hakan's fault I suppose, and he is trying to make it clearer in the jit-targets branch09:07
fijalok09:07
fijalit's still fairly impressive09:07
fijalbecause I abstract away a lot of things09:07
fijalwould be slightly cooler if I can encode information such as "length of this thing is a constant"09:07
arigato"I" -> "it"?09:07
fijalno, I can do it by hand09:08
fijalmaybe09:08
fijalit's just that you unroll loops based on the length of for iterator09:08
fijalbut the information does not seem to propagate09:08
fijalam I confusing?09:09
k_bx (~k_bx@195.20.130.1) left irc: Ping timeout: 240 seconds09:09
arigatoyes09:09
fijalI essentially want to make "length of this array" a part of greenkey09:09
fijalor promote or something like this09:09
arigatoyou also seem to be drawing random conclusions from unroll.py09:09
fijalno, I'm not09:09
arigatoif you say so09:09
fijalunroll as in @jit.unroll_safe09:10
arigatoyes, I understood this09:10
arigatobut I'm saying that you need either to have a deep understanding of how unroll.py works, or just wait for the jit-targets branch09:10
fijalok09:10
arigato"length of this array" can be put in the greenkey09:11
arigatoe.g. you read it in some green variable and never use len() afterwards09:11
arigatoincluding in the "for" loop09:11
arigatoso instead it would be e.g. a "while i < green_length" loop09:12
arigatoor, again, you hope that it's all unnecessary in the jit-targets branch09:12
arigatofwiw the new_arrays are forced because the arrays end up not being a part of "inputargs", but only "short_inputargs"09:13
arigatoI'm unsure what it means :-)09:14
Action: arigato looks at the buildbot state09:15
arigatourgh, seems that I broke it *again* by playing with ll_math.py09:16
arigatohow is that even possible? test_zllrandom doesn't use floats09:16

fijaldo you have any opinion how to return the list of all JitDrivers?13:01
fijalI can register them at creation, but then if you run tests there might be too many13:01

arigatofijal: I would go for defining a sane API13:11
fijalas in?13:12
fijalhave say a JitDriverGroup?13:12
fijaland you pass the group as an argument to JitDriver creation?13:13
fijalor just list all jit drivers in interp_jit?13:13
fijalprobably the last thing is the sanest13:15
arigatoI think the sanest would be to redefine the API so that set_param and set_user_param can also be called "on all jitdrivers" instead of on one specific13:16
fijalthat completely does not answer my question13:17
fijalhow to get "all jit drivers" in a sane way13:17
fijalon RPython level13:17
arigatono13:17
arigatoI mean that the API should not be "somejitdriver.set_param()"13:17
fijalright13:18
arigatobut instead "pypy.rlib.jit.globally_set_param()"13:18
fijalah13:18
fijalso essentially the params won't be a property of a jit driver at all?13:18
arigatoor we also keep the current API13:18
arigatojust add the global one13:18
fijalthe current API does not make sense IMO13:19
arigatowhich would be implemented e.g. by emitting a "jit_marker" operation with the "driver" argument being None13:19
arigatowell, feel free13:19
fijalI mean while I can see the use case for the current API13:20
fijalthe global one is immensly more useful13:20

Alex_Gaynoryes indeed, I wonder what the use case was21:58
amaury_obviously, all subclassable types have this __new__21:59
Alex_Gaynoryou could have a class which doesn't have an __new__ directly, but inherits it from something21:59

lucianjterrace: the are no loops for the JIT to trace and optimise23:01
